Sources have confirmed the recent rumours, that Apple will release a new iMac without a screen. New PowerBooks are also expected to be released during MacWorld Expo. According to anonymous sources, Apple will indeed release an iMac that will cost under $600 (not including the display). The new iMac will be aimed towards disgruntled Windows users or iPod users and will not be a living-room appliance as suggested by recent pictures. The sources added that the unit would be compact and its case color will be white, like the current iMacs. It has also been confirmed that it will use a G4 processor, will include a combo drive and only have 256Mb of RAM. As for the new PowerBooks, they will still be based on the G4 processor from Freescale, sources suggested PowerPC MPC7447A with clock speeds of 1.5Ghz and 1.66Ghz, and updated graphics. Finally, an older report had suggested that Apple would also add DVD recording capabilities across the line but we don't feel very sure about it. Bookmark/Search this post with:
