ThinkSecret reports that Apple will not release the iPod video during the October 12 event. However, the site believes that new PowerMacs and new Powerbooks will be announced along with an improved iPod without video feature.

Few details were given for the PowerMacs and the Powerbooks. The Powerbooks will use MPC7448 processors with a slight speed-bump in clock speed while the 15" and 17" models' screens should get a bit higher resolutions (HD?). The only information known about the PowerMacs is that they will use PowerPC 970MP (dual-core) processors.

As for the iPod, its maximum storage capacity should be increased to 80GB while its size will be slightly reduced. The new generation of iPod could come in other colors than white, maybe silver and black.

All this information will, if accurate, confirm some of our earlier reports. Earlier this week, MacosXrumors reported that Apple would make major announcements next week and that one of them could be a new line of PowerMacs. On a report posted in February, one of our readers had hinted at the fact Apple was planning to release Powerbooks with higher resolutions, noting a mistake on the manuals the came with the Powerbook. In March, another reader found that some Apple's developer utilities had support for dual core CPUs.
