The Mac-centric sites’ scene heated up today as Mashugly, author and founder of OSX86project.org, has published an open letter to AppleInsider which is a known Mac rumours publication. The author claims that AppleInsider is publishing information found on OSX86project.org without even mentioning the source on its reports.
Mashugly was already quite frustrated by AppleInsider’s move but then was even more frustrated when he read MacRumors which linked to AppleInsider instead of OSX86project for its story.
“It is for reasons such as this that Mac rumor sites such as your own are seen as lacking credibility by many – we can’t have an “infinite loop” of stories confirming each other without first confirming the original information.”, says Mashugly in his article.
AppleInsider indeed published information similar to OSX86project’s in some of its recent articles. The rumour site’s author remained very vague on its sources though.
OSX86project is regularly publishing interesting information about the development of Mac OS X for Intel, as recently reported (with link to the source!) by MacosXrumors.
