Swisscom has confirmed recent rumours that it has signed a deal with Apple over the distribution of the iPhone in Switzerland.

No details were officially provided by Swisscom but the company has updated its web site with a dedicated page allowing potentially interested customers to register so as to receive information on Swisscom's iPhone offering as soon as it's available.

Meanwhile, rumours have spread on the Internet Swiss publication "Le Matin" that the iPhone will provide video-conferencing features and GPS in addition to the now obvious 3G capability.

Apple's iPhone is currently available in the U.S. and a few European countries but has announced deals for additional countries in Europe as well as in Turkey, Canada, India, Australia and Singapore. Some countries such as Italy will even have two telecom operators selling the iPhone.
